Autor przedstawia rozwój nauk historycznoprawnych w Polsce w trudnym okresie, który nastąpił po wydarzeniach marcowych 1968 r., obejmując kolejne dziesięciolecie. Wychodząc od omówienia konsekwencji politycznych wydarzeń, zestawia składy personalne badaczy w poszczególnych środowiskach i zachodzące w nich przesunięcia. Omawia aktywność naukową historyków prawa, zestawia i charakteryzuje osiągnięcia poszczególnych badaczy, przedstawia przebieg najważniejszych dyskusji, kontakty międzyśrodowiskowe. Specjalną uwagę poświęca charakterystyce stosunków międzynarodowych polskiego środowiska historyczno-prawnego.

The author presents the development of historical and legal sciences in Poland in the difficult period subsequent to the events of March 1968, focusing his attention on the decade following it. Starting with the discussion of political consequences of events, he juxtaposes the list of researchers in individual circles and shifts taking place within them. He discusses the scientific activity of historians of law, juxtaposes and describes the achievements of individual researchers, and presents the course of the most crucial discussions and conflicts between the circles. Special attention is paid to the description of international relations of the Polish world of legal history.

Der Autor präsentiert die Entwicklung der rechtshistorischen Wissenschaften in Polen in schwieriger Zeit nach den März-Ereignissen 1968 und umfasst auch das folgende Jahrzehnt. Der Darstellung politischer Folgen dieser Ereignisse folgt die Vorstellung einzelner Forschergruppen in jeweiligen wissenschaftlichen Kreisen und der Veränderungen, welche darin stattfanden. Der Autor bespricht die wissenschaftliche Aktivität der Rechtshistoriker, stellt die Errungenschaften einzelner Forscher zusammen, ruft den Verlauf der wichtigsten Diskussionen und die Beziehungen innerhalb der wissenschaftlichen Gesellschaft zurück. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit wird dabei den internationalen Beziehungen polnischer Rechtshistoriker geschenkt.
