Artykuł omawia problem, jakim jest zagrożenie dla bezpieczeństwa współczesnego świata wynikające z użycia w konfliktach zbrojnych min przeciwpiechotnych. Analizuje powyższe zagrożenie (a właściwie zagrożenia) w aspekcie międzynarodowych dokumentów Prawa Humanitarnego. Ukazuje, iż rozmaite organizacje, takie jak ONZ i Międzynarodowy Komitet Czerwonego Krzyża, oraz rządy wielu państw inicjują istotne akcje poświęcone procesowi usuwania min, pomocy ich ofiarom i publicznej edukacji, lecz problem ten nadal pozostaje nierozwiązany do końca. Zwraca uwagę na istotne konsekwencje społeczne, jakie niesie ze sobą użycie tych śmiercionośnych środków walki.

The article discusses the threat to global security resulting from the use of antipersonnel mines in armed conflicts. The threat, or indeed threats, posed above are analysed in reference to the stipulations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). It lists a variety of crucial actions initiated by the UN, International Red Cross Committee, and governments of numerous states to remove the mines, assist victims of their use, and to provide public education. Nevertheless, the problem remains unsolved. The article focuses further on social consequences carried by the use of these lethal combat devices.
