Niniejsza publikacja jest próbą oceny zjawiska przemocy w rodzinie na terenie powiatu działdowskiego. Szczegółowej analizie poddano zarówno interwencje domowe, jak i interwencje domowe dotyczące przemocy w rodzinie, płeć ofiar i sprawców przemocy w rodzinie. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że ofiarami przemocy w rodzinie są przede wszystkich kobiety i małoletni do 13. roku życia, mężczyźni zaś należą do rzadkości. Z kolei w grupie sprawców przemocy zdecydowanie więcej jest mężczyzn niż kobiet. Przyczyn przemocy w rodzinie należy upatrywać głównie w alkoholu, pod którego wpływem sprawcy są skłonniejsi stosować przemoc wobec swoich najbliższych. Ofiary przemocy w rodzinie głównie w instytucjach samorządowych (gminne komisje ds. profilaktyki i rozwiązywania problemów alkoholowych) szukają pomocy zarówno dla siebie, jak i swoich sprawców, próbując w ten sposób przeciwdziałać, dopiero w następnej kolejności, chcąc poprawić swoją sytuację materialną, zwracają się o pomoc do gminnych ośrodków pomocy społecznej.

The following publication is an attempt at assessing domestic violence in the Działdowo district. A detailed analysis has been undertaken regarding domestic intervention as well as domestic intervention characterized by acts of violence and the genders of both the victims and perpetrators. The research results lead to the conclusion that most victims of domestic violence are women and minors under the age of 13, whereas men constitute a small minority. Among the perpetrators, there are more men who commit acts of violence compared to women. Alcohol abuse is considered to be the main cause of domestic violence, since under its influence the perpetrators are more likely to use violence towards their family members. The victims of domestic violence mainly seek help for themselves as well as for the perpetrators in local self-government institutions (communal committees for the prevention of alcohol-related problems) in order to prevent further occurrences of abuse and violence. It is only later that they turn to social welfare centres in an attempt to improve their financial situation.
