The article contains an analysis of the manifestations of the heritage of ritualized violence in West Sumba, taking as its starting point two emblematic symbols of this phenomenon in the form of a traditional knife parang and ritual war festival Pasola, characteristic for this part of the island. The author recalls the historical roots of this phenomenon, analyzing its multiple cultural functions and considering the reasons for its persistence in the realities of contemporary Sumba.

Niniejszy artykuł analizuje przejawy dziedzictwa zrytualizowanej przemocy w rejonie Sumby Zachodniej w Indonezji na przykładzie jego dwóch tradycyjnych emblematów tradycyjnego noża parang oraz rytualnego turnieju wojny Pasola, które są charakterystyczne dla tej części wyspy. Autorka opisuje korzenie historyczne tego fenomenu, analizując jego różne funkcje kulturowe oraz przyczyn jego trwałej obecności we współczesnej przestrzeni społecznej Sumby Zachodniej.
