The level and structure of remuneration of members of the management staff of financial insti- tutions around the world, during the financial crisis, subject to particular criticism. Poorly designed compensation systems support implementation of short-term objectives in return for the care of long- term company growth and long-term objectives. The purpose of the article was to present the trends in the wages of managers of the largest financial institutions operating in selected countries. Based on the research explained that under the influence of the financial crisis managers' pay fell, but already in the post-crisis period the wages rose to the level before the crisis. The highest level of remuneration in the company receive the governors, and the Polish financial sector. A significant impact on the level of their salaries very often has a high clearance.
