Second part of the 19th c brought radical changes which allowed pilgrimages to the Holy Land to become very popular. The changes were reflected also in the numbers of women pilgrims. Comparison of the "female gaze" with that of "male" is an interesting task. The class, religion and financial position of pilgrims were sometimes more important than gender. Examining two pairs of relations: two Polish (male and female) and two American (male and female) going to the Holy Land in the second part of the 19th c can be analyzed in comparative cultural perspective: man versus woman, Roman Catholic versus Protestant and Polish versus American. All the authors were educated, financially secure and religious.  Parallel reading of the text is helpful in the context of the gendered text.

Druga połowa XIX wieku przyniosła radykalne zmiany, które ułatwiły upowszechnienie się pielgrzymek do Ziemi Świętej. Zmiany te znalazły również odzwierciedlenie w liczbie pielgrzymujących kobiet. Porównanie „kobiecego spojrzenia” z „męskim” jest interesującym zadaniem. Przynależność do klasy społecznej, religia i pozycja finansowa pielgrzymów były czasami ważniejsze niż płeć. Badanie dwóch par relacji: dwójki Polaków (mężczyzny i kobiety) oraz Amerykanów (mężczyzny i kobiety) udających się do Ziemi Świętej w drugiej połowie XIX wieku można analizować w porównawczej perspektywie kulturowej: mężczyzna kontra kobieta, katolik kontra protestant i Polak kontra Amerykanin. Autorzy byli wykształceni, zabezpieczeni finansowo i religijni.  Równoległa analiza tekstu jest pomocna w kontekście rozpoznania podobieństw i różnic w tekście kobiecym i męskim.
