The notion of “caring for the soul”, associated with ancient Greek philosophy, is one of the key concepts in the thought of this Czech philosopher. It is considered both in philosophical and historiosophical categories. This category makes reference to the issue of people’s lectual and moral condition, which underlines the formation of their authentic existence in the world. The indicated problems are also reflected in Jan Patočki’s philosophy of education. He understands education as an existential movement of “caring for the soul”. Therefore, the model of the teacher is Socrates’ model of self-knowledge and “knowledge of ignorance”.
