Celem niniejszego tekstu jest nakreślenie głównych przyczyn wystąpień społecznych we współczesnych Chinach, przedstawienie ich natężenia ilościowego oraz rozkładu geografi cznego, a także przeanalizowanie reakcji ośrodków władzy, mediów oraz elit intelektualnych. Tekst stanowi także próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy społeczne niepokoje mogą zachwiać stabilnością polityczną i ekonomiczną ChRL, w tym, czy mogą stanowić zagrożenie dla bezpieczeństwa narodowego.

The aim of this paper is to specify the main reasons for the social protests in the nowadays China. It will present the intensity and the geographical location of those protests as well as the reactions of the decision making bodies, media and intellectual elites. Finally this publication is trying to answer the following questions: If and how will the social unrest aff ect the political and economical stability of ChRL? Can they pose a threat to the national safety of the country?
