W artykule dokonano omówienia wojskowych relacji polsko-niemieckich w latach 1990–1999 ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem współpracy sił morskich. Określono ich charakter i sposób realizacji oraz wskazano na zasadnicze uwarunkowania, decydujące o ich kształcie. Autor dowodzi, że współpraca ta sukcesywnie się rozwijała i poszerzał się jej zakres. Została także poszerzona, przybierając wymiar trój- i wielostronny. Przyczyniła się ona do pogłębiania klimatu zaufania w regionie, utrwalenia bezpieczeństwa państw i regionu Europy Środkowej oraz – pośrednio – umożliwiła przygotowanie polskiej armii, w tym i Marynarki Wojennej RP, do funkcjonowania w strukturach wojskowych NATO. Stanowiła więc jeden najważniejszychelementów przeobrażenia Sił Zbrojnych RP i kreowania polityki bezpieczeństwa Polski, ukierunkowanej na zapewnienie jej niezawisłości politycznej i suwerenności.

This paper explores Polish-German military relations in 1990-1999, focusing specifically on naval cooperation. It looks into the nature of these relations and the ways of practising them as well as discusses the fundamental conditions which defined their shape. The author argues that this cooperation expanded regularly with its scope growing steadily and, finally, developing towards a tri- and multilateral model. This, in turn, contributed to an increased sense of trust in the region and strengthened the security of Central-European states as well as the region as a whole. These developments indirectly facilitated the preparation of the Polish Army, therein the Polish Navy, for incorporation into NATO’s military structures. As such, Polish-German naval cooperation seems to have been a very relevant factor in transforming the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and developing Poland’s security policies aimed to ensure the country’s political independence and sovereignty.
