This paper considers the variety of pressures on Polish libraries for computer application in the field of data processing for old book collections. Four points of view are under consideration: 1) strategy for the choice of collections or the old print units for data processing during the first stage of the computer application; 2) methods of description, especially the levels of details for different purposes; 3) unification of bibliographical sources for idetification of the old prints; 4) cooperation with abroad libraries. As a suggestion for the last one author proposes a participation in the ESTC - British Library in London.
