While reflecting on the possible meanings and the practical prospects of the «Living Word,» which has become a mythical concept in the contemporaryPolish theater, I propose a closer look at the typically Polish tradition that has arisen around it. I refer to the ideas put forward by Adam Mickiewicz, Cyprian Norwid and Juliusz Osterwa, as I attempt to establish what in fact the «Living Word» is, and to outline the potential of the program which aims to make it the focus of stage practice, as well as the ways of implementing this program.
