W artykule starano się wykazać funkcje semantyczne i stylistyczne leksemu, który wprawdzie nie ma zbyt wielu użyć w utworach, ale w kontekstach nabiera znaczeń wykraczających poza definicje słownikowe. W niektórych jest symbolem władzy i bogactwa. Szczególną rolę odgrywa w kulcie religijnym – zarówno pogańskim, jak i chrześcijańskim. W funkcji stylistycznej wykorzystuje Słowacki bursztyn w porównaniach i metaforach.

Within the framework of the article the author has tried to indicate the semantic and stylistic functions of the lexeme, which admittedly has very few applications in the works, but when in context, it gains meanings going beyond the dictionary definitions. In some works it is a symbol for power and wealth. It plays a particular role in the religious cult – both pagan and Christian. Słowacki uses amber stylistically in similes and metaphors.
