The region was settled by immigrants from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Lithuania. 94 percent of migrants belonged to the peoples, traditionally confessed the Orthodox. For the described period of the initiative group of Orthodox believers tried to get an official registration of the parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church. Local party and Soviet authorities were able to prevent the creation in the Kaliningrad region is not a single Orthodox parish.
