The perception of self-efficacy and the self-concept in the unemployed. The possibilities of modification through educational interventions. The paper is a report of research concerning perceived self-efficacy and the self-concept in the unemployed. Bandura’s conception of self-assessment of personal effectiveness was taken as the theoretical framework of the research. The objective of the presented research was to explore the possibilities of a modification of beliefs about personal effectiveness while undertaking a new job and to search for associations between these beliefs and actual success in the work market. Although the possibility of enhancing the sense of personal effectiveness in searching for a job through trainings exists, it does not necessarily have to translate into actual effects in the form of finding employment. The relationship between the sense of personal effectiveness and self-image among the unemployed is also discussed.
