Social and emotional function of six-year-olds and their communicative competence.The article introduces the results of research, the purpose of which was the recognition of the connection between selected aspects of the social (welfare) adaptation of the child and their communication competence. The articles “Scale for communication competence research” by M. Kielar-Turska, M. Białecka-Pikul and M. Ligęza as well as “Pupil’s behavior sheet” by B. Markowska and H. Szafraniec were used in the research. The research involved 151 six-year-old children.The findings of the study can be summarized as follows:Pull back has a negative correlation with the whole range of functional-linguistic abilities and sociolinguistic and imaginary abilities.Encouraging children to be active in social work has a positive effect on their functional-control, expressive, sociolinguistic and imaginary abilities.Antisocial behavior had a weak correlation with only two components of communicative competence, that is: it had a negative correlation with sociolinguistic abilities and a positive one with imaginary abilities.
