The present study focuses on current employment and social situation in the European Union as well as on social impact of the crisis and of austerity measures, and finally on the financial situation of households. It presents recent labour market and social trends, in particular employment, unemployment, long-term unemployment, situation of disadvantage group. Analyses of the social situation focuses on poverty rates in Member States, social inequalities and social exclusion. At the end it discusses on in work-poverty and monitoring the financial situation of working poor households.

W artykule zawarto krótkie informacje, które ilustrują sytuację społeczno-ekonomiczną w Unii Europejskiej i w Polsce w końcu 2011 r. Dotyczą one m.in. rynku pracy, bezrobocia, nierówności społecznych, ubóstwa i sytuacji gospodarstw domowych. Źródłem danych były raporty opublikowane przez Komisję Europejską.
