The study deals with events surrounding the marriage of Ferdinand Leopold von Sporck to Apolonia Rosalia Vratislav of Mitrovice. For nine years, this noble married couple had lived together at a castle in Heřmanův Městec, until their – according to available sources very conflict – coexistence escalated to the point when Countess Sporck escaped from her husband to Prague, where she asked the Prague Archiepiscopal Consistory for a divorce from the table and bed. The presented text discusses events preceding the Countess’ escape and describes in more detail the course of this legal battle, which started following her relocation to Prague and concerned inter alia the four young sons of this feuding married couple. Money and financial security of Apolonia Rosalia also constituted an important part of this legal battle. The study also analyzes how the two main participants perceived the entire affair and which legal strategies they chose.
