The paper discusses the topic of the poetry writing in Slovakia and Macedonia of the 1950s, when Milan Rufus and Mateja Matevski began to write their works. They both rank yet among the most significant contemporary Slovak and Macedonian poets. The paper deals with the theoretical and critical aspect and the terminology of this topic and focuses on the comparative interpretation of some of their poems written until 1960s. The purpose of the paper is to investigate and analyze the different poetical symbols as well as symbolical worlds of poets.
