Studie se zaměřuje na pojetí dvojího cynismu v myšlení českého surrealisty a estetika Vratislava Effenbergera. Na základě analýzy této dichotomie jsou pak ve druhé části studie vyloženy jeho náhledy na humor. Cynismus je zde chápán jako pojem, který je klíčový pro porozumění Effenbergerovu myšlení. Představuje vlastní iniciační impuls, díky němuž člověk odstupuje od skutečnosti. Může se buď zvrhnout v záludné prospěchářství, anebo naopak otevírat cestu ke svobodě, imaginaci a poznání. Jednu z forem, v níž se otevírá hravě cynický přístup, představuje pro Effenbergera humor. A to takový humor, který narušuje společensky uznávané konvence a odkrývá jejich imaginativní potenciál. Tím člověka vede k tvořivosti, svobodě a kritické angažovanosti vůči duchovně-společenskému nastavení moderní společnosti. Příspěvek ukazuje, že Effenbergerovy náhledy na cynismus, komiku a společnost mohou inspirativně přispívat k porozumění příslušných témat, zejména v kontextu tradice filosofického pesimismu a moderních estetických teorií.

The study focuses on the concept of dual cynicism in the thinking of the Czech surrealist and aesthetician Vratislav Effenberger. Based on its analysis of this dichotomy, the second part of the study sets forth his views on humor. Cynicism is understood here as a concept that is key to understanding Effenberger’s thought. It represents one’s own initiatory impulse, thanks to which a person distances from reality. It can either degenerate into an insidious utilitarianism or, conversely, open the way to freedom, imagination, and knowledge. One of the forms in which a playfully cynical approach opens itself up is, for Effenberger, humor. And it is such humor that disrupts socially recognized conventions and uncovers their imaginative potential. This leads a person to creativity, freedom, and critical engagement towards the spiritual-social setting of modern society. The study shows that Effenberger’s insights into cynicism, humour, and society can make an inspiring contribution to the understanding of the relevant topics, especially in the context of the tradition of philosophical pessimism and modern aesthetic theories.
