The core of this article is devoted to correlation of what Lysias (12,42) and Thucydides (throughout Book VIII) tell us about events in Hellespont in the summer 411. Its main goal is to suggest the most probable itinerary of the oligarch Eratosthenes in the year mentioned. Some further comments on the Lysias passage are adduced and reliability of his account is considered.
