The article discusses the main topics of research and thought of the biologist Edward O. Wilson (1929-2021): the assumptions of sociobiology, the disappearance of biodiversity, the place of humans, as well as the concept of the unity of knowledge and the future of the world, all in order to reflect on their relevace to philosophy. The author believes Wilson's scientific achievements are very valuable for the humanities and social sciences, because they express a new (biology-inspired) paradigm of thinking about human beings.
