The text adds to the discussion on the program curriculum for pre-schools in Poland and USA. The author assesses the quality of the Polish document critically, showing the developmental inadequacy of the standards contained within it, their incoherence, and selectiveness. The program curriculum for preschools in USA shows that scientific literacy assumes an increasingly important role in the context of globalization. The rapid pace of technological advances, access to an unprecedented wealth of information, and the pervasive impact of science and technology on day-to-day living require a depth of understanding that can be enhanced through quality science education. In the 21st century, science education focuses on the practice of science that leads to a greater understanding of the growing body of scientific knowledge that is required of citizens in an ever-changing world.
