The dynamic reality of today’s world, the complexity of life situations, expectations, and requirements lead to a number of difficulties that young people and their carers face every day. Emerging problems can be analysed from a perspective of the individual’s specific qualities, experiences, and struggles, but also from wider psycho-educational perspectives. This article is an attempt to present the supporting role of educational coaching as a functional generator of the individual’s potential. In the literature one can find the characteristics of coaching as the art of encouraging people to make an effort to transform dreams into values and goals, and to strive for them consistently. The above assumptions lead to the conclusion that both the family and the school environment are naturally linked to this process. They are the basic contexts in which the process of shaping values and attitudes takes place. The paper is also an attempt to approximate the assumptions and coaching methods, treating them as a useful tool in the daily work in education.
