Celem artykułu jest rozpatrzenie problemu odzwierciedlonej/wykreowanej w polskim kinie przełomu lat 80. i 90. przestrzeni społeczno-kulturowej pierwszego etapu transformacji ustrojowej. Przedmiotem analizy są wybrane filmy z lat 1989-1993 odnoszące sią do fazy określanej przez socjologów jako „tranzycja” – moment liminalny procesu przemian, zwiastujący przejście od systemu socjalistycznego do kapitalizmu. W pracy poszukuje się odpowiedzi na pytania, jak filmy ukazują destrukcję dawnego systemu politycznego i jej skutki? oraz jak reprezentują one nowe sfery wolnego rynku i związane z nim przemiany tożsamości? Podejmowane są także kwestie, na ile krajobraz zmiany jest wynikiem ekspresji wolności i forsowania idei nowych możliwości ekonomiczno-społecznych, na ile zaś przestrzenią zamętu, a także, jak rozumiany jest przez filmowców sam proces transformacji (rewolucja, ewolucja czy też powrót do przeszłości). Rozważaniom towarzyszy perspektywa antropologiczna i socjologiczna skoncentrowana na badaniu relacji film – rzeczywistość, związków filmu z przestrzenią kulturowych norm, wartości i tożsamości.

The aim of the article is to consider the problem of the socio-cultural space of the first stage of political transformation reflected/created in the Polish cinema at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. The subject of the analysis are selected films from the period of 1989-1993 referring to the phase described by sociologists as a “transition” – the liminal moment of the transformation process, heralding the transition from the socialist system to capitalism. The work seeks to answer questions such as how the films show the destruction of the former political system and its effects, and how they represent the new spheres of the free market and the associated transformation of identity. Questions are also raised as to the extent to which the landscape of change is the result of expressing freedom and forcing the idea of new economic and social opportunities, to what extent is it a question of disarray and how the transformation process itself (revolution, evolution or return to the past) is understood by filmmakers. Considerations are accompanied by an anthropological and sociological perspective focused on the study of the relationship between film and reality, the relationship between film and the space of cultural norms, values and identities.
