Jest on czynnością nacechowaną estetycznie i ideowo.

The article explores the topic of player’s subjectivity in the context of a gameplay style. The author describes the concept of “style” as a “strategy of choice” that determines the poetics of the text. The author identifies “style” as both a creative and a reproductive action. He argues that this dichotomy is represented in the act of play. The author demonstrates how selected games impose the specific styles of play on the user, and how those styles model the aesthetic and the ideological reception of the game. He arrives at the conclusion that the valid gameplay is based on a reading and appropriate interpretation of the game’s ergodic text. The player’s actions are written into the program in advance. The user is supposed to recreate them. This recreation depends on the accurate reading of the intentions that are written into the software. The findings prove that the player’s subjectivity is constructed by the game text.
