The paper describes the soil classification and present features of the soils the neighbourhood of the Lednica Lake — on its east part — with reference to their origin and geomorphological conditions. There was ascertained the domination of lessive soils occupying the upper parts of the ground (115 - 120 m above sea level) and black earths (occurring in the depression — 112 - 115 m above sea level). Peat soils and muck soils covering ground hollows and “rankers” formed on the accumulative hummock occupy considerably less areas. The research that is being carried out is not allowed in its preliminary form to recreate the natural soil conditions existing at the beginning of the settlement in this region.
