Barbara Krystyna Niemiec, PhD (born on July 13th 1943 and died on January 8th 2014 in Kraków), a Polish philologist, linguist, pedagogue, academic teacher, assistant professor at the Jagiellonian University (1979-2003), a lecturer of the Jesuit Academy “Ignatianum” in Krakow, social and political activist, writer and scholar. A “Solidarity” trade-union activist, under Martial Law in Poland she was a member of the Underground Workers’ Committee of the NSZZ “Solidarity” of the Jagiellonian University (1981-1988), a vice president of the National Committee of “Solidarity” (1991-1992), a judge of the Tribunal of State of the Republic of Poland (1991-1992), an editor of Solidarity’s weekly - “Tygodnik Solidarność”- (1995- 2001). For the “Religious and Sacred Poetry: An International Quarterly of Religion, Culture and Education” she was a Polish language editor and dealt with such subjects as the didactics of the Polish language, social communication, language culture and pedagogy. A Polish patriot, Roman-Catholic, she died in reputation of holiness. God rest her soul! Requiem aeternam dona ei Domine, Requiescat in claritate Tua! Requiem aeternam Barbarae nostrae da Domine! Barbara Krystyna Niemiec (ur. 13.07.1943 r. w Krakowie, zm. 8.01.2014 r. tamże), dr nauk humanistycznych, polska filolożka, językoznawczyni, pedagożka, nauczyciel akademicki, adiunkt Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego (1979-2003), wykładowczyni Akademii „Ignatianum” w Krakowie, działaczka społeczna i polityczna, publicystka, autorka prac naukowych. Aktywistka NSZZ “Solidarność”, w stanie wojennym – członkini Tajnej Komisji Zakładowej “Solidarności” Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego (1981-1988), Wiceprzewodnicząca Komisji Krajowej NSZZ „Solidarność” (1991-1992), Sędzia Trybunału Stanu Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej (1991-1992), redaktorka „Tygodnika Solidarność” (1995-2001). W Redakcji „Religious and Sacred Poetry: An International Quarterly of Religion, Culture and Education” pełniła społecznie funkcję redaktorki językowej w zakresie języka polskiego (filologii polskiej) oraz redaktorki tematycznej w zakresie dydaktyki języka polskiego, komunikacji społecznej, kultury języka i pedagogiki.
