The paper describes the preliminary results of the studies of the lake sediments containing the subaquatic culture layer from the relicts of the wooden bridge (the Poznań—west—bridge). The sediment was taken 24 m from the west bank of the island (Ostrów Lednicki) on the Lednica Lake. The sediment was described according to Troels-Smith (1955) system and studied by means of several analyses (loss on ignition, CaC03 content, pollen analysis, plant macrofossils).
