The 16th century was the golden age of the Polish translations of the Gospels. To describe the reality of ancient Palestine, Polish translators used the proper lexis for Polish reality of the 16th century and the proper lexis for Palestinian reality. The aim of the paper is to analyse the lexis concerning meals, clothes, buildings, names of social functions and funds, including the names of people who administrated the finance. The lexis was selected from ten Gospels translated into Polish in the 16th century.
