The article deals with the current issues in Ukrainian literary criticism concentrating on the post- -colonial and post-modern approach and its particular manifestation in the works of contemporary Ukrainian writers. The latest studies and monographs focusing on themes in post-colonial criticism are presented at the beginning of the article, as well as definitions of anti-colonialism and post-colonialism in Ukrainian literary criticism, followed by a brief description of the situation in Ukrainian literature after gaining independence in 1991. The article also discusses specific examples and features of Eastern post-colonialism in the works of two contemporary Ukrainian writers — Serhii Zhadan and Stepan Prociuk.
