EN

Creation and expansion of the Internet influenced the global economy, changing its social and cultural aspects as well. Significant part of this influence contributes to increase of gross domestic product. Internet access and efficient use of the global network is important to economic growth and reduction of development discrepancies between countries' economies. Research confirms growing role of the Internet in all areas of world economy. The fact that the growth is most visible in developing countries shows that differences between countries grow smaller; nonetheless, this trend is not universal, as it is limited to several developing countries only. The differences in Internet accessibility and use in different countries and areas of global economy are still visible. One of most important contributing factors is the cost of accessing the Internet. The basic factor of Internet accessibility may soon be a factor dividing countries along lines of wealth. However, programs and plans to make Internet access universal and global, along with standardization of the technology, create a chance to lower the barriers
