Pedagogika pastoralna jest głęboko osadzona w pedagogice chrześcijańskiej. Wypływają z niej bowiem implikacje do prowadzonych badań nad działalnością wychowawczą Kościoła. Pedagogika chrześcijańska stanowi naukowy system wychowania oparty na podstawowych źródłach chrześcijaństwa, do których należy przede wszystkim Pismo święte. To ono pozwala odnaleźć odpowiedź na fundamentalne pytania dotyczące życia ludzkiego. To prawdziwa księga mądrości wychowawczej. Jednym z centralnych tematów teologii biblijnej, jak i teologii wychowania jest problematyka „człowieka ubogiego”. Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie ubogich i ubóstwa w Biblii. Poznajemy w nim terminologię jaką autorzy Starego i Nowego Testamentu posługują się na określenie ubogich i ubóstwa. Naświetlona też zostaje sytuacja ubogich w prawodawstwie Starego Testamentu oraz głos, jaki w tej sprawie zabierają prorocy i mędrcy oraz psalmiści. Już w ST jak wynika tekstów ubóstwo nie wiąże się jedynie z wymiarem materialnej nędzy czy niedostatku. Chodzi również (księgi prorockie, mądrościowe, Psałterz) o postawę ducha i serca, której pełnię przynosi swoją osobą i orędziem Jezus Chrystus. Jego wzór naśladował również Kościół apostolski i Ten, który obecnie jest udziałem ludzi wiary.

Pastoral pedagogy is deeply rooted in Christian pedagogy. It is the source of implications of the research on educational activity of the Church. Christian pedagogy is a scientific system of education based on basic sources of Christianity, which is basically the Bible. The Bible allows us to find the answers to all fundamental questions about human life. It is a genuine book of educational wisdom. One of the main topics of both biblical and educational theology is the issue of ‘poor man’. The article tells us about the poor and poverty in the Bible. We get to know the termi­nology used in the Old and New Testament in the context of the poor and poverty. The situation of the poor in the Old Testament legislation is also exposed as well as the opinion of prophets, wise men and psalmists about this matter. According to the texts of the Old Testament the poverty is connected not only with material misery or lack of certain things. It is also connected with the attitude of soul and heart (the books of prophets, the books of wisdom, the Psalter), which is brought by Jesus Christ Himself within His message. The Apostolic Church also followed His example as well as the One in which people of faith are involved.
