Obierając za punkt wyjścia książkę Pisać Marguarite Duras, tekst przygląda się relacji między pisaniem a alkoholizmem. Duras do końca życia zmagała się z alkoholizmem i dość otwarcie o tym mówiła, mimo że pijąca pisarka nie ma w kulturze tak romantycznego statusu jak pijący mężczyzna. Tekst jest następnie zwięzłą pisarską autobiografią, opowiada o doświadczeniach czasu i poza-ludzkiej przyrody, a także o ewolucji podmiotowej postawy wobec tych fundamentalnych kwestii. W ostatniej części tekst przechodzi od tonu eseistycznego do literackiego.

Taking Marguerite Duras’ book Ecrire as its starting point the text examines the relationships between writing and alcoholism. Duras struggled with alcoholism till the end of her life and spoke about it relatively openly, in spite of the fact that a drinking woman-writer does not hold the same romantic position in literary culture as drinking male writers do. Next the text presents a brief literary autobiography, discussing the experience of time and non-human nature, as well as the evolution of the subjective response to these fundamental issues. In the last part of the text the essay gives way to literary fiction.
