The article is dedicated to the question of organization and realization of the educational excursions. The analysis of literary sources on issue of research is carried out. The essence of the concept «educational excursion» is considered. The types of educational excursions are pointed out and their typology is described. The examples of excursions are given and their influence on pupils’ personality development is analyzed. The importance of excursions subject connection with the real events of the past and prominent events of present time is underlined. One of the main reasons that stipulated rare address to such form of activity as an excursion is a complication of preparation that needs much time and certain level of pedagogical qualification. However, this problem has a methodical aspect especially for today as the Ukrainian system of education does not have perfect methodology of planning, preparation and realization of excursions. The aim of this work is an attempt to attract attention to this problem and fill in the gap in the methodical providing of an excursion activity. The reconstruction of historical events, necessary for valued perception by the children of historical information is achieved by the use and corresponding interpretation of historical sources. Although traditional methodology of construction of excursion forbids to plug in a story object that cannot be seen, such form of an excursion, as the excursion-reconstruction is built on a minimum of objects for direct contemplation. Any historical source can serve as a basis of an excursion: a few lines from literary work or letters of the contemporaries of studied events, bits and pieces of building or their image on photos or postal, any thing that belong to the studied period. Minimum information in combination with professionalism of a leader of the group and permanent address to child’s fantasy and imagination allow creating the excursions of any excursion object. The creation of excursion text presumes taking into account sounding in the process of motion, breaking to pieces, that answer separate parts of activity, possibility of the interactive intermingling with children and employees of the establishments visited during an excursion. The right completed text diminishes or, even, fully destroys dependence of an excursion on the place of its realization, allowing conducting the excursions in the conditions of any locality.
