A treasure trove containing almost 4 0 0 0 silver coins from the first half o f the fourteenth century as well as gold jewels: a crown composed o f segmets topped with eagles (first quarter o f the fourteenth century), a large circular brooch (third quarter o f the thirteeth century), two pairs o f shield— -sh a p e head ornaments (twelfth-thirteenth century), and a number o f smaller objects from the same period, was discovered in the Spring o f 1988, during the demolition o f the foundations o f a house situated within the Old Town in Środa Śąska (voivdeship o f Wroclaw, Silesia). This whole complex was subject to conservation and detailed studies for the richly illustrated publication: Klejno ty monarsze — skarb ze Środy Slqskiej (Royal Jewels — the Treasure from Środa Śląska), Wroclaw 1996.
