Ekphrasis have been known and used in art from the earliest centuries due to the fact that different disciplines of art were always in close relations and took inspiration from one another. A great example of contemporary ekphrasis can be found in works of Polish writer and poet Jacek Dehnel. His book Fotoplastikon consists of one hundred old photographs chosen from his private collection and mini-essays he wrote to each of them. Old pictures were also inspiration for many of Dehnel’s poems, such as Brzytwa okamgnienia, FOTO-FILM, A. Cechnowski, ŁÓDŹ, Przejazd 24, tel. 457-23, and Saint--Malo. All of those works, not only try to reveal the stories hidden behind the still expo-sitions, but also tell the story of photography itself and describe it’s characteristics.
