Autor artykułu podkreśla, że ten sam czas powstawania katechez środowych na temat teologii ciała (1979 – 1984) i adhortacji „Reconciliatio et paenitentia” (1984), wpłynął pozytywnie na rozwój chrześcijańskiej praktyki pokuty. Teologia ciała, zaproponowana przez Jana Pawła II, zwróciła uwagę na sposób integracji cielesności ludzkiej w strukturzeosoby, doprecyzowała teologiczne rozumienie pożądliwości oraz odróżniła prawdziwe poczucie winy od fałszywego. W artykule wyjaśnia się, że sposób integracji cielesności ludzkiej – życie w ciele, ale nie według ciała – buduje cnotę pokuty. Odpowiedzialne podejście do pożądliwości przywraca znaczenie uczynków pokutnych (modlitwa, post i jałmużna), natomiast sakramentalne wyznanie grzechów jest nieodzownym warunkiem radzenia sobie z ciężarem winy.

The article points out that the time of the formation of catechesis Wednesday on theology of the body (1979-1984) and the Apostolic Exhortation “Reconciliatio et Paenitentia” (1984), had a positive impact on the development of the Christian practice of penance. The theology of the body, proposed by Pope John Paul II drew attention to the way the integration of human flesh in the structure of the person, clarify theological understanding of lust and distinguished the true from the false guilt. The article explains that the way to integrate human flesh - life in the flesh, but not according to the flesh - builds the virtue of penance. Responsible approach to the meaning restores the lust of the works of penance (prayer, fasting and almsgiving), while the sacramental confession of sins is a prerequisite for coping with the burden of guilt.
