The present article is a continuation of the subject already published in this magazine under the title „Methods of Forging Metal Objects" („Ochrona Zabytkow", 1982, nos 3—4). It gives a full survey of techniques used to identify forgeries of metal works of art. The author discusses and gives his opinion of visual and UV examinations, examinations by means of specific weight, measurement of the potential of corrosion, neutron activating analysis, X fluorescence method, PIXE method and a classical wet chemical analysis, spectral emission analysis, metallurgie tests, a technique of absorptive atom spectrometry, isotopic analysis and a micro-observation technique. The survey of these methods has been illustrated with examples of the studies that are carried out in the world.
