Rationing of nursing care occurs when nurses providing care perceive that resources are insufficient to provide necessary services to all of the patients. Among the reasons for this phenomenon can be mentioned the reduction of employment, increased demand for care due to new technologies, new treatment options, or a higher level of patients' knowledge, which increases the time and work expenditure of health care providers. The presented discussion indicates the need to pay more attention to the problems related to limited nursing staff numbers and the resulting consequences.
