In July 2014, President of NIK Krzysztof Kwiatkowski presented the lower house of the Polish Parliament, i.e. the Sejm, with the Analysis of the Execution of the State Budget and the Monetary Policy Guidelines in 2013 and the Report on the Activities of the Supreme Audit Office in 2013. The first document was developed by NIK on the basis of the state budget execution audit carried out at public finance sector entities, and its own analyses. The audits were carried out at 91 administrators of budget parts and selected administrators of the lower level, including those that implement financial programmes with co-financed from European funds. The audits also covered financial plans of 28 earmarked funds, six implementing agencies and three state legal persons. Selected local self-government entities were also audited that received subsidies from the state budget. Also, the servicing of the state budget and European funds budget by the National Bank of Poland (NBP) and the National Economy Bank (BGK) was audited by NIK. For the first time, NIK’s analysis presented, in a broader manner, the outcomes of public spending in the areas of significant importance for the quality of the citizens’ lives. While the report on NIK’s activities dealt with, among others, other audits – last year NIK sent 189 pronouncements on audit results to the Sejm. Thanks to repair measures taken after NIK’s audits, some 200 million PLN have been obtained.
