John Kenneth Galbraith był jednym z najbardziej znanych krytyków głównego nurtu ekonomii. Autorów heterodoksyjnych trudniej jest umiejscowić w historii myśli ekonomicznej niż badaczy związanych z głównym nurtem. Niemniej jednak w niniejszym opracowaniu przedstawia się poglądy i koncepcje Galbraitha jako neoinstytucjonalisty. Głównym celem artykułu jest charakterystyka poglądów naukowych Johna Kennetha Galbraitha ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem jego koncepcji mądrości konwencjonalnej. Opracowanie składa się ze wstępu, dwóch części oraz zakończenia. W pierwszej części podjęto próbę umiejscowienia Johna Kennetha Galbraitha w nauce ekonomii oraz interpretacji jego poglądów jako neoinstytucjonalisty. Druga część dotyczy charakterystyki koncepcji przez niego stworzonej, jaką jest mądrość konwencjonalna.

John Kenneth Galbraith was one of the most prominent critics of mainstream economics thought. Heterodox authors are more difficult to place in the history of economic thought than researchers associated with the mainstream. However, this study represents the views and concepts of John Kenneth Galbraith as the reprezentant of neo-institutionalism. The main goal of this article is to characterize scientific ideas of John Kenneth Galbraith, with particular emphasis on the concept of conventional wisdom. The paper consists of an introduction, two parts and summary. In the first part of paper an attempt was made to locate John Kenneth Galbraith in the history of economics thought and the interpretation of his views as reprezentant of neo-institutionalism. The second part deals with the characteristics of the concept he created, which is the conventional wisdom.
