Problem of time was widely discussed in Greek antiquity. Numerous definitions of time indicate that the phenomenon was not clear to the ancient people. Kairos was among of them. It described the unique moment, which was bringing to a halt normal course of time and allowed a change to happen. And nowadays, Kairos is still considered as faint moment that if not captured, disappears irretrievably. This paper analyzes the connection between Kairos and the contemporary art medium – photography, which main idea is to catch and hold the very special moments.

Sebastian Kłosek − dental doctor and medical doctor, continued educa- tion at the Ehime University in Japan where in 2006 obtained the degree Doctor of Philosophy in medical sciences. In 2009 defended the master’s thesis in philo- sophy Japanese aesthetics of tension and the problems of contemporary art and in 2013 presented the bechelor’s thesis in history of art Aesthetics of touch and the problems of contemporary art. Presently, he works at the Medical Uni- versity of Łódź, and continues education at the field of history of art and classical philology, and also, takes the doctoral course at the Chair of History of Philosophy at the University of Łódź
