Leon Dzienisz was born on 21 October 1906 in Parszków, a town located within the Starzyno parish, in the Puck poviat. He was ordained a priest on December 19, 1931. In his early years he served in Chełmno, Brodnica and Nawra. Beginning July 1, 1936, he served as a vicar in the parish church of St. Nicholas in Grudziądz. He was an ecclesiastical assistant for several organizations: the Catholic Young Women’s Association, the Archconfraternity of Christian Mothers, the Catholic Women’s Association, the Apostolate of the Sick and the Apostolate of Prayer. On April 1, 1937, he was appointed pastor of a new pastoral post in Wrzosy, near Toruń. Arrested by the Germans on October 19, 1939, he was imprisoned consecutively in: Fort VII in Toruń, Stutthof, Sachsenhausen and Dachau. His stay in prisons and camps devastated his health. On August 10, 1942, he was placed in the so-called „invalids transport”. He was gassed at Hartheim Castle, located in Alkoven, near Linz, Upper Austria. The Germans reported that the death of the priest took place in Dachau on September 16, 1942, and gave pneumonia as the cause.
