Halide Edip Adıvar was among the most influential women of the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the emergence of Republic of Turkey. She was highly educated and a stereotype-breaker who incorporated many modern views in her work, juxtaposing them with tradition and showing outdated and damaging elements.
