Transfer emocji w translacji audiowizualnej na przykładzie polskich tłumaczeń napisowych wybranych filmów anglojęzycznych i francuskojęzycznych

Szeroki dostęp do zagranicznych produkcji filmowych w Polsce zaowocował w ostatnich latach rosnącym zapotrzebowaniem na tłumaczenia audiowizualne. Dzięki rozwojowi nowych technologii i form dystrybucji filmów oraz seriali napisy filmowe przestały być domeną kina i stały się coraz chętniej wybieraną wersją tłumaczenia filmów. Pomimo niewątpliwych zalet translację napisową cechują szczególnie restrykcyjne ograniczenia systemowe determinujące wybory translatorskie i w rezultacie kształt tekstu docelowego. Nadrzędną zasadą tłumaczeniową jest kondensacja źródłowych treści, w wyniku której wyjściowy tekst dialogów podlega znacznym reformulacjom i opuszczeniom. Ponieważ charakter postaci w filmie w dużym stopniu manifestuje się poprzez ekspresję emocji, w artykule podjęto próbę zbadania, w jaki sposób w tłumaczeniu napisowym dokonuje się transfer funkcji emotywnej źródłowych dialogów filmowych. W tym celu analizie poddano wybrane filmy anglojęzyczne i francuskojęzyczne oraz ich polskie przekłady w wersji napisowej.

In recent years, easier access to foreign film productions in Poland has resulted in a growing need for audiovisual translations. Digital technologies and new means of film and TV series distribution have made film subtitles more and more popular not only with filmgoers but also with home viewers. Despite its obvious advantages, the choice of subtitling imposes on the translator major constraints determining the form and the content of the target text. Condensation being the underlying principle of subtitling, the original is subject to serious reformulations and omissions. Since personalities of individual film characters are revealed, to a great extent, through the expression of their emotions, the purpose of this article is to verify how the emotive function of source film dialogues translates into subtitles. To achieve this aim, selected English and French films have been studied together with their Polish subtitles.
