The article is devoted to selected characters from Father Procopius’ Lives of the Saints. The focus is on the martyrs who were the first saints of Christianity. The exemplification material was arranged according to individual attributes related to the mutilation of the saint’s body through wounds inflicted on him or as a result of illness. The martyred body indicates the subjectivity of the wound, which enables the fulfillment of the martyr’s greatest desire – to connect with God. The testimony of the martyrs was related to the broadest plan: the martyr – inflicting a wound or looking at a wound. In this context, attention was also paid to the final instructions addressed to the reader, referred to as Spiritual Benefit.

Artykuł został poświęcony wybranym postaciom z Żywotów Świętych Pańskich o. Prokopa. Uwaga jest skupiona na męczennikach, którzy byli pierwszymi świętymi chrześcijaństwa. Materiał egzemplifikacyjny uporządkowano według atrybutów indywidualnych związanych z okaleczeniem ciała świętego poprzez zadane mu rany lub wskutek choroby. Umęczone ciało wskazuje na podmiotowość rany, która umożliwia spełnienie największego pragnienia męczennika – połączenia się z Bogiem. Świadectwo męczenników zostało odniesione do najszerszego planu: męczennika – zadającego ranę lub patrzącego na ranę. W tym kontekście zwrócono także uwagę na pouczenia końcowe skierowane do czytelnika, określane jako Pożytek duchowy
