Modal space of conditionality consists of conditional operators, potential or unreal mood and lexical and grammatical context of conditional phrase. In a contrastive research, the problem concerns the relevance of these means in compared languages. In this paper, the author finds out that in this area, the grammatical structure of the language influences the relevance of these means. The grammatical structure of Russian is more flexible than of German, that’s why in Russian there are more possibilities to make the modal space implicit or broader. This is realized by variable operators of conditionality, that mark stylistic differences and other ways by using infinitives and non-verbal constructions in conditional clauses that open their modal spaces making them indefinite.

Modaler Raum der Konditionalität setzt sich aus konditionalen Operatoren, dem potential-irrealen Modus und der lexikalisch-grammatischen Füllung der konditionalen Phrase zusammen. Das Problem besteht darin, inwieweit die genannten Faktoren für die zu vergleichenden Sprachen relevant sind. Im vorliegenden Artikel wird festgestellt, dass die Unterschiede im Sprachbau des Russischen und des Deutschen dafür entscheidend sind. Der flexiblere Sprachbau des Russischen lässt mehrere Variationen zu, die den modalen Raum der Konditionalität im Vergleich zum Deutschen implizieren lassen oder erweitern. Es sind stilistisch variable konditionale Operatoren sowie infinite Prädikate und non-verbale Konstruktionen im Nebensatz, die den modalen Raum flexibel bzw. indefinit machen.
