Introduction: The organizational climate is one of the vital factors that have an influence on the effectiveness and quality of care in the healthcare system. The objective of this paper is to assess the organizational climate of the work environment of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and methods: This study was conducted between January and March 2021 among 102 male and female nurses providing care to patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 in hospitals in the province of Małopolskie. The diagnostic survey method was used with the aid of the Kolb Organizational Climate Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and nonparametric statistics. Results: More than 75% of the respondents reported that the pandemic had an adverse effect on work environment. The organizational climate was perceived as autocratic mostly by persons aged 35 or more, while those younger than 25 described it as supportive. Conformism, accountability, and demands were rated highest (M = 5.07), while rewards were at the lower end (M = 3.29). Conclusions: A climate midway between autocratic and supportive was prevalent in the work environment, which was in line with the respondents’ expectations. Climate assessment was significantly related to age, work experience, education and position. The weakest points in the building of a supportive climate during the COVID-19 pandemic included organization, a sense of warmth and support as well as rewards for employees.

Wprowadzenie: Klimat organizacyjny stanowi ważny czynnik w systemie opieki zdrowotnej, ponieważ wpływa na efektywność i jakość świadczonej opieki. Celem pracy była diagnoza klimatu organizacyjnego w środowisku pracy pielęgniarek i pielęgniarzy podczas pandemii Covid-19. Materiał i metody: Badania przeprowadzono w okresie styczeń–marzec 2021 r. wśród 102 pielęgniarek i pielęgniarzy, którzy świadczyli opiekę nad pacjentami zakażonymi SARS-CoV-2 w szpitalach na terenie województwa małopolskiego. Klimat autokratyczny wskazywały częściej osoby powyżej 35 r.ż., a wspierający badani do 25 r.ż. Najwyżej oceniono konformizm, odpowiedzialność i wymagania (M = 5,07), a najniżej nagradzanie (M = 3,29).
