This article presents the issue of the internment of representatives of the Japanese ethnic group living on the west coast of the United States of America, after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. The essence of this controversial move was discussed, some constitutional aspects of the response of US state organs in the state of emergency, the judicial control of the internment of Japanese American citizens on the example of the Korematsu case, as well as the struggle of the Japanese ethnic group in the USA for statutory recognition of their injuries due to internment during World War II.

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie internowania przedstawicieli japońskiej grupy etnicznej zamieszkałej na zachodnim wybrzeżu Stanów Zjednoczonych Ameryki po ataku Japonii na Pearl Harbor. Omówiono istotę tego kontrowersyjnego posunięcia, niektóre aspekty konstytucyjne reagowania organów państwowych USA w stanach nadzwyczajnych, sądową kontrolę internowania obywateli amerykańskich pochodzenia japońskiego na przykładzie sprawy Korematsu, a także zmagania japońskiej grupy etnicznej w USA o ustawowe uznanie ich krzywd z tytułu internowania w okresie II wojny światowej.
