The article analyses three selected plays of D. Smole, M. Gavran and D. Jovanović – dramatistsfrom former Yugoslavia who tried to actualize Sophocles’ tragedy Antigone. Beginningfrom opinion H.D.F. Kitto who proposed to treat that drama as the interpersonal tragedy, themost important in the article became problems discussing: Antigone during the war and conflictbetween Antigone and Creon as the break of the community. All these problems refer tocontemporary of each dramatists. The conclusion is confirmation that the figure of Antigonehelps autors to talk about the reality of Yugoslavia in the second half of 20th century.
